James Mountain - "Young Irelander", Nationalist and Fenian

A Brief Family History

Story has it that the Mountain family came to Ireland from France at the time of the French Revolution.

The earliest parish record found in Cork City shows that in 1804, a marriage took place between Patrick Mountain and Catherine (Kate) Cunningham, at St. Mary and St. Anne's Cathedral (the North Cathedral) Cork.

A record of James Mountain's birth still has to be found to verify whether Patrick and Catherine were his parents.
